Private First Class John Sherman Nicodemus Jr 35804831 US Army. He was born on April 9, 1925, in Piqua, Ohio. He was the son of CPL. John Sherman Nicodemus Sr. and Almira I “Alma” Freeman Nicodemus. He was the adopted son of Mrs. Rue Wright, and the brother of Seaman 1/c William Bill Calvin Nicodemus. Before the war he worked for Burnside Motor Freight. He entered the US Army on June 19, 1943 at the age of 18. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 9 inches tall weighed 160 pounds had blue eyes and brown hair. He also worked before Burnside Motor Freight before the War. He trained at Camp Haan California and Camp Carson Colorado. He left for Europe in August 1944. He served in Company G398th Infantry Regiment, 100th Infantry Division. He would have fought with them in the campaigns of RHINELANDARDENNES-ALSACE, and CENTRAL EUROPE. He was hospitalized in France in December 1944 with frozen arms and legs. After returning to Company G he was wounded on April 6, 1945 in the vicinity of Jagstfeld Germany according to the morning report he suffered Macerated feet bilateral and was taken to the 525th medical battalion.

He was discharged on March 11, 1946. He married Flora Ann “Tubby” Folkerth on June 12, 1959, in Covington, Ohio. He lived at 314 E Broadway St Residence: Covington, Ohio. He died on February 5, 1987, in Troy, Ohio, at the age of 61, and was buried in Covington, Ohio.
