T/5 Calvin Barnes 38441653, US Army and US Air Force. He was born on March 29, 1920 in Buffalo, Texas. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Barnes, of 1411 E. Skelly St., Hobbs New Mexico. and brother of SGT. Earnest Barnes. Calvin was educated in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was a baker by trade. He was inducted into US Army July 8, 1943, at the age of 23, at fort Bliss Texas. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from April 25, 1944 to Feb 11 1946. He served in Central Burma, and India Burma. He served in the 445th signal battalion. He was discharged on Feb. 28, 1946. At the time of his discharge he had brown eyes, and black hair, he was 5 foot 8 inches tall he weighed 170 pounds. He was awarded the The American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), The Good Conduct Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal. He reentered the Military and served in The US Air Force during the Korean War. He died on June 15, 2008 at the age of 88, he is buried at Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs, New Mexico.
