Seaman 2nd Class Richard Arthur Tolman 8032076 US Navy. He was born on November 23, 1918, the son of Joseph Tolman and Marie L Marshall Tolman. He entered the US Navy on November 16, 1943 at the age of 24 in Boston Massachusetts. After he finished his training the first ship he served aboard was in February and March 1944 aboard the USS Tarazed AF 13. On March 14 1944 until mid May 1944 he was aboard YMS 83. He served aboard the USS SC 498 submarine chaser in May – July 1944. This ship was given to the Free French Navy, in October 1944. On July 27, 1944 he was transferred to the SC 979 he was still on this ship on October 1, 1944. This ship was given to the Free French Navy as well, in October 1944. In early 1946 and maybe late 1945 he was aboard LST 843 this ship was in the PTO. In March 1946 he left LST 843 and he was aboard the USS Oakland CL 95 until at least June 1946. He was awarded The American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), and the World War Two Victory Medal. He died on January 10, 2002 at the age of 82.
