Private First Class Melvin R. "Tink" Bushman 36431689 US Army. He was born in Ashkum Illinois, on October 29, 1921. He was the son of Herman Franklin Bushman and Icyle M. Flesher Bushman and the brother of S/Sgt. John Bushman. Melvin entered the US Army on October 30, 1942, at the age of 21. He trained at Camp Adair Oregon, Camp White Oregon, Fort Lewis Washington. He served in combat with 1st Battalion Headquarters Company, 382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 3, 1944 on Leyte. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, The Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations, World War Two Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
