"I was retired as a Brigadier General in 1944 for Physical Disability due to a heart accident. Now on the retired list. "As director of the Army Postal Service I inaugm·ated 'V, Mail' to conserve space for air tM.nsportation of the mail. "Irv 1941 I estab1ished and constructed 50 large recreational camps in the United States for the Army. "It was my good fortune to travel into all the Theaters of Operations during the War and to note the splendid service and the brilliant record being m1de by La\e Forest so ldiers. The records of the War Department are filled with their distinguished service on the battlefield." Commendation Medal, A Theater Medal, AP Theater Med al, EAME Theater Medal, WWII Victory Medal, BRONZE BATTLE STAR (North African Campaign), LEGION OF MERIT.
