Captain Edward J Brandl 0-800819

Captain Edward J Brandl O-800819 US Army Air Corps. He was born on February 14, 1920, the son of Herman Brandl and Frances Brandl of 131 Renne St Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. His brothers were also in the service Herman F Brandl, Agnes J Brandl, Frances J Brandl, and Robert L Brandl. Edward was a Catholic. He graduated from South High School in 1937, he was on the football team Hockey team and Ice Skating team. He was a Grocery Store Manager before the war. He entered the Service on March 27, 1942 at the age of 22. At the time of his enlistment he had blonde hair Blue Eyes and was 5 foot 10 and 1 /2 inches. He served as a Pilot Served in 312th Bombardment Group, 386th bomb squadron, 5th Air Force. He flew 54 Combat Missions in World War Two in the PTO. He spent 15 months in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He was Awarded the Air Medal, the Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal. He had a long 40 plus years career, retiring from General Motors. He died on September 3, 2018 in Plano Texas at the age of 98.
