Second Lieutenant Clifford C Clarke, O-2062739 US Army Air Corps KIA. He is the son of Eva M. Hanssen of Truman, Minnesota. He entered the service February 17, 1943 at Fort Snelling Minnesota. He trained at Trained at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey; New York City, New York, Miami Beach. Florida; Coral Gobles, Florida; Maxwell Field, Oklahoma Tucson, Arizona; Topeka, Kansas; Lincoln, Nebraska. On July 1, 1944, he received his wing, and diploma in Navigation and Meteorology from Pam American Airways System, Coral Gables, Florida. He went overseas November 22, 1944. He served as a Navigator on a B-24 with the 716th Bomb squadron, 449 Bomb Group (H). While serving near Naples, Italy, he was killed December 4, 1944 while on a test flight, he is buried in Bari, Italy. He was awarded the European Theater of Operations (ETO) Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
