Sergeant John August Nordquist, 38568496, US Army KIA. He is the son William V Nordquist and Mary L Nordquist of Eagle City, Oklahoma. He is also the husband of Mrs. Esther Lee Nordquist they had 2 children Summie Nordquist and Bobbie Nordquist of Oklahoma City. Sergeant Nordquist was born November 19, 1915, at Canton and attended Eagle City High School and Draughn's Business College. He entered service January 3, 1944, in Oklahoma City at the age of 28. He trained at Camp Wheeler, Georgia. Sergeant, Nordquist served overseas in the European Theater of Operations with Company C, 109th Infantry, 28th Division, 1st Army, and was killed in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest, on November 18, 1944 at the age of 28. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), European Theater of Operations (ETO) Medal, Expert Rifleman's Badge, and Combat Infantry Badge (CIB). He is also the brother of PFC. DELBERT V. NORDQUIST.
