Private First Class, Carroll F. Clifford, 31260327 U. S. Army KIA. He was born in 1924, the son of Cornelius F. and the late Bridget (Carroll) Clifford. PFC Carroll he was graduated from South High School in 1942, and formerly was employed at Norton Company. He entered the Army in February 23, 1943, and trained at Camp Maxey, Texas, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, He took part in the ASTP (Army Specialized Training Program) Ohio State University. He went overseas in October served overseas in Europe with C Battalion 280th Engineers. He served in the Rhineland, Central Europe and at Ardennes campaign. He died of injuries received in France, on September 28, 1945, around the age of 21. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 battle stars, the American campaign medal, the World War Two Victory. He was also the brothers of Robert T. Clifford (USN) and Neil J. Clifford (USN), Margaret Clifford Morris,, Teresa Clifford Monahan, and brother in law of PFC. Robert J. Morris, William J. Monahan Jr all were from Worcester Mass.
