Staff Sergeant Herman Neil Allen 38425770, US Army Air Corps KIA. He was born September 23, 1918, son of John Thomas Allen, and Effie May Dorsey Allen, of Henderson Texas and, husband of Opal Ballard. He had five brothers and three sisters two of his brothers served in World War Two, T/Sgt. Alfred H. Allen (POW), Seaman 2^nd Class Clyde G. Allen. Entered Army Air Corps on January 6, 1943, trained at Sheppard Field, Scott Field, Illinois, Lowry Field, Colorado, Tyndall Field, Florida, Westover Field, Massachusetts and Chanute Field, Georgia. He served in the 723rd Bomb Squadron, 450th Bomber Group, 15th Air Force. He was awarded the Air Medal AM, Purple Heart Medal (PHM), Good Counduct Medal and ETO Ribbon. Killed in Italy in July 20,1944, at the age of 25.
