He served in Company H, 15 Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, 5th Army. He landed in North Africa in February 1944 and was later sent to Italy. He was killed in action May 23, 1944 at Anzio Beachhead. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (ETO), Presidential Citation, and the Purple Heart Medal (PHM).
