Lieutenant Paul Schenk 0-112576, Jr
Lieutenant Paul Schenk 0-112576, Jr US Navy KIA MIA. He was born on February 11, 1921 in Oklahoma. He was the son of Paul Schenk Sr. and Ula Schenk,. He was also the brother of Barbara Ann Schenk Felt and brother in law of Second Lieutenant Spencer P. Felt. Paul Schenk, Jr grew up in Salt Lake City Utah and went to the University of Utah for one year before enlisting in the US Navy in 1941.
Lieutenant Schenk served with VP 133 On 27 May, Lieutenant Paul Schenk flew a patrol to Shionomisaki, a heavily defended region along the coast of Japan. He and his crew failed to return and were presumed lost. Lieutenant Schenk was killed in Action on May 27, 1945 at the age of 24. Because he and his crew were not found the were not declared Killed in Action until 366 days later May 28, 1946. He was Awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) the Air Medal (AM), the American Campaign Medal The World War Two Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
