Corporal Charles W. Eeds , 6285852
Corporal Charles W. Eeds, service number 6285852, United States Army Air Corps Killed in Action. He was born in June 1918, the son of S. C. Eeds and Anna B Eeds of Durant, Oklahoma. He entered the United States Army Cavalry on January 12, 1938, at the age of 19. He served in California before transferring to the Army Air Corps on September 1, 1940. He served in the 48th Materiel Squadron 27th bombardment group. He was taken prisoner on Bataan in the Philippines, he died in a Japanese prison camp POW Camp #1 Cabanatuan on July 19, 1942, at the age of 24. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, American Defense Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal and the Prisoner of War Medal.
