Private CHARLES J. MURRAY 34773359 US Army KIA. He was born on November 20, 1924, in New Castle, Indiana, the son of Charles MURRAY SR., and Mamie MURRAY. He had four brothers and two sisters. He was the husband of Mrs. Katherine O. Murray of Kannapolis, North Carolina. He entered the US Army on April 22, 1943, at the age of 18. He served in Company H, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was killed in action on Anzio Beachhead  on February 29, 1944, at the age of 19. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Division, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (ETO) and Purple Heart Medal (PHM).
