Private CLYDE E. ALEXANDER 34598057, US Army KIA. He was born on March 8, 1908, the son of Mrs. W. R. Alexander, Rt. No. l, Concord. He was married to Sarah Little Alexander. He entered the US Army on December 30, 1942 at the age of 34. He was 5 foot 9 inches 163 pounds with gray eyes and brown hair, at the time of his enlistment. He served in Company D, 175th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. He landed in France on June 29, 1944 and went into action as replacement at St. Lo. He was killed in Action September 13, 1944 at Brest, France. He was awarded the Expert Machine Gun Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (ETO), and Purple Heart Medal (PHM). His body was returned to the United States in 1948.
