WILLIE EDWIN THIGPIN

WILLIE EDWIN THIGPIN United States Army. Brother of First Lieutenant ANDREW CALDWELL THIGPEN. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley C. Thigpin of Hosston Louisiana. He was born on January 18, 1919, and attended schools at Hosston and at McCloud, Texas. He was engaged in the occupation of farming at Hosston prior to entering military service January 10, 1940, at Shreveport Louisiana, in the Army of the United States at the age of 20. He served in San Diego, California, as a gunnery instructor prior to going overseas to the China Burma India (CBI) Theater. He served in foreign duty for almost two years operating a gasoline supply truck with the Armed Forces. He has the American Defense Service, American Theater of Operations, and Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) Ribbons and was granted his honorable discharge in December, 1945, in Arkansas, after serving for almost six years of faithful and unselfish devotion to duty with the Armed Forces of the United States.
