Staff Sergeant T/3 Technical Third Grade CARL F. CASTLE KIA 06985875, U. S. Army. Born May 30, 1922. Entered service October, 1939, at the age of 17. He served at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; European Theater (ETO). He served with L Company347th Infantry regiment, 87th Infantry Division, and was Killed in action in France, December 14, 1944 at the age of 22. Awarded Purple Heart Medal (PHM), two Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal. Attended Van Lear High School. He is a Protestant. Son of Mr. Farris Castle. Husband of Mrs. Emily Begley Castle, Box 18, Martin, Kentucky. ​His body was returned to the United States in 1949.
