Corporal GEORGE W. SMITH,

Corporal GEORGE W. SMITH, US Army Air Forces. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Smith, Shreveport Louisiana, and father of William Kay and George Daniel Smith. He is also the brother of Seaman Second Class, MARION LEROY SMITH, and Sergeant CLYDE B. SMITH. He entered the Army Air Forces November 25, 1943, and was assigned to duty at Sheppard Field, Texas, at Truax Field, Wisconsin, for radio school, at Chanute Field, Illinois, in pre-Radar, at Boca Raton, Florida, as a Radar student, and at Fairmont Army Air Field, Nebraska, with a test crew. He served with the 67th Bombardment Group at Great Bend Army Air Field, Kansas, and on general duty at Pueblo Army Air Field, Colorado. He has the air crew member badge (wings), the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater of Operations Ribbon, and World War Two Victory Medal. He was discharged December 11, 1945.
