Private First Class THOMAS B. SHAMBURGER, JR. 38391591, US Army. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Shamburger of Haughton, Louisiana. He was born December 11, 1922, and attended Haughton High School. He was engaged in farming prior to at the age of 20. He entering the Army of the United States in the Medical Corps, June 1, 1943. From Camp Barkeley, Texas, where he received training, he went to Pittsburg Replacement Depot and Camp Stoneman, California. On December 10, 1943, he embarked for New Caledonia where he was stationed at the 6th Replacement Depot. On Guadalcanal he served with the 611th Clearing Company, 20th Station Hospital, and 48th Station Hospital. He has the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbon. On his return to the States he was honorably discharged from the Medical Corps.
