Private First Class James Frazier Turner, Jr, 34285715 KIA US Army. He was born on March 8, 1917 the son of James and Helen Turner, from Niota, McMinn County, Tennessee. He enlisted in the US Army on June 8, 1942 at the age of, 25. He trained at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Camp Blanding Florida. He serve in A Company, 313rd Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division. He was promoted to Private First Class on March 2, 1943. He was killed in action while serving in the European theater of operations on August 27, 1944, at the age of 27. He was awarded The Purple Heart Medal (PHM), the European theater of operations medal, the American theater of operations medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
