Pvt. Henry O. Schumacher KIA


Pvt. Henry Otto Schumacher 38635655 US Army KIA. He was born on June 29, 1926, in Muenster, Texas. He was the son of Henry Joseph Shumacher Jr. and Elizabeth Barbara Schniederjan Shumacher. Pvt. Schumacher lived in Gainesville Texas before the war. He entered the service on Sept., 1944 at the age of 18. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 8 inches tall weighed 145 pounds had brown hair and hazel eyes. He trained at Camp Hood, Texas, Fort. Ord, Cal. He went overseas in Feb. 1945 to the Philippines. He served in 136th Infantry Regiment, 33rd Infantry Division. He was Killed
in action while on Reconnaissance Patrol on Luion on May
7, 1945. He died at the age of 18. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM)The Bronze Star Medal (BSM)The Combat Infantry Badge (CIB)The American Campaign Medalthe Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO)The Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal. He also earned the rifle and machine gun Marksman Badge.
