WILLIAM WARREN SALE 38474719 U. S. Army. The son of William Halmer and Nora Elizabeth Sale of Rt. 1, Henderson, Texas. Brother of Master Sergeant LEONARD C. SALE. He was born December 18, 1914. After attending Haynesville High School, he was employed by the Cudahy Packing Company at Shreveport Louisiana. Inducted February 27, 1943, he received his training at Fort Lewis, Washington; Camp Phillips, Kan.; and Camp Miles Standish, from where he embarked for the European area on September 4, 1944. With Company  L, 114th Infantry, 44th Infantry Division, he served as Rifleman throughout France, participating in the numerous campaigns in that area until he was wounded in action. The Purple Heart Medal (PHM) was awarded February 13, 1945, in Hereford, England; and his other citations include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB) the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) Medal with one battle star, and the Good Conduct Medal. He is still on active duty in the service, serving as Prisoner of War Guard. He is the husband of Verda Marie Sale, who resides at Arp, Texas.
