Technical Sergeant Joseph H Bennett 6947939 US Army KIA. He was born on May 5, 1917. He lived in Pennsylvania, and enlisted in the US Army before World War Two begin. He served in Company K, 253rd Infantry Regiment63rd Infantry Division. He was promoted from Staff Sergeant to Technical Sergeant on December 21, 1944. On February 1, 1945 he was sick and was sent to the 93rd Evacuation Hospital, he returned to duty on February 8, 1945.

On February 18, 1945 when the 253rd Infantry Regiment was advancing towards the town of Neunkirchen Germany. Technical Sergeant Joseph H Bennett was advancing alongside lieutenant Joe Thornton Mason Jr. There was an American rolling barrage of artillery covering the advance. One of the American artillery shell land short killing Sergeant Bennett instantly, and lieutenant Mason died a few moments latter in the arms of Lieutenant Mack Castleberry arms. Technical Sergeant Joseph H Bennett was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), American Defense Medal, the American Theater of Operations, the European Theater of Operations, and the World War Two Victory Medal. His body was moved from Epinal National Cemetery to Arlington National Cemetery on April 6, 1949.
