1st Lieutenant WILLIAM SNYDER, O-759104

1st Lieutenant WILLIAM SNYDER, O759104 US Army Air Corps. He is the son of, Mr. and Mrs. Karl K. Snyder, of Hughson, California. He was born July 31, 1922, at Hughson. Entered the service June 17, 1942, in San Francisco, at the age of 19. He served overseas with the 485th Fighter Squadron, 370th Group, 9th Air Force, in England, France and Belgium. He completed about 60 missions as pilot of a P-38 over Germany. He was Killed in action October 20, 1944, over Bonn, Germany, at the age of 22. He was awarded the Air Medal, 3 Bronze Clusters, 1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster worn in lieu of 5 Bronze Clusters, the European Theater of Operations (ETO) medal and the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) awarded posthumously. He is also the brother of Private DON D. SNYDER, USMC and Radioman 3rd Class RICHARD SNYDER, U. S. Navy.
