Aviation Machinist’s Mate, First Class CLYDE EUGENE RODGERS 4146298 US Navy Air Force. He was born August 27, 1919 in Bath, Virginia. He entered the us Navy in April, 1941 at the age of 21. He married Ethel Mae Cleaveland on October 24, 1942. He served on the USS Pollux (AKS-4), and was Killed in Action on October 23, 1943 at the age of 24. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), The American Defense Medal, European Theater Medal with 4 battle stars, the American Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Commendation for outstanding service and the World War Two Victory.  His body was returned to the united states in 1948.
