Staff Sergeant JOHN J. GIBSON 37001075 US Army KIA. He was born November 14, 1914 the son of Alva L Gibson, and Vida E Gibson in Chillicothe, Missouri. He entered the US Army Infantry on February 3, 1941 at the age of 26. He trained at LittleRock, Arkansas; San Francisco, Los Angeles, California; Camp Kilmer, New Jersey; Camp Howze, Texas. He embarkation for the European Theater April 5, 1944. He served in Company A 1st Infantry Division. He died of Wounds received in France, in the Battle of St. Lo, on August 2, 1944 at the age of 29. He was buried in Cambridge, England and in 1949 his remains were returned to Missouri. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Silver Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal European Theater Medal, American Theater Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
