First Sergeant Charles Sidney Brandon Fuhrmann Service Number 14017272 United States Army Air Corps Killed in Action POW. First Sergeant Fuhrmann was born on August 16, 1918, in Covington, Louisiana, the son of Charles Sidney August Fuhrmann and Pauline Clara Fuhrmann. Sergeant Fuhrmann had one sister. He served in the Philippines and fought for the defense of Bataan. He served in the 48th Materiel Squadron, 27th bombardment group. He was taken prisoner on Bataan and took part in the Bataan Death March. He died on June 11, 1942, in Manila, Philippines, at the age of 23, and was buried in Manila, Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, American Defense Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal and the Prisoner of War Medal.
