PVT. James G. Dooley 37632930 US Army KIA. He was born January 4, 1925 in Unionville, Missouri the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Dooley. in Unionville, Missouri. He grew up in Unionville, where he attended the public schools. He was inducted into the armed forces of the United States on February 10, 1944, at the age of 19, at Jefferson Barracks Missouri. He took his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, from. February 11, to June 23. When he was transferred to Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. On July 7, After a short furlough. On July 18, he transferred to Infantry C. T. A.P.O. 1540 New York. He was then transferred to 561 Replacement Company, 3rd. P.L.T., 114 Replacement Battalion A.P.O. 761-R, New· York. He was then placed with the 411 Replacement Company, 1st. Platoon A.P.O 398-R. New York, then transferred to Company E, 351st Infantry Regiment 88th Infantry Division. He went overseas to Italy in the early fall of 1944, and was declared missing in action while serving in the 88th Division in North Italy on October 17, 1944. He was declared legally dead by the U. S. War Department on October 18, 1945. ln August, 1946, word came from the Graves Registration Department he had been Killed in Action on October 17, 1944 and interment of his body had been in, the United States Military Cemetery, Mirandola, about 18 miles Northwest of Modena, Italy. His body was returned to the United States in 1949. Besides his parents he is survived by three brothers-Bill, Larry and Danny; and four sisters Violet, Mary Jean, Patty and Ora Sue.
