Major John E. Favor 34917118 

Major John Ellison Favor 34917118 US Army / US Air Force. He was born on October 24, 1925, in Mount Willing, Alabama, he was the son of Alexander Reid Favor, and Mary Lucille Holladay Favor. He entered the US Army on January 1, 1944 at Fort McClellian Alabama, at the age of 18. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 9 inches tall weighed 150 pounds had brown hair and brown eyes. On July 20, 1944 he transferred to the 63rd Infantry DivisionHe served in 4th Platoon Fox Company, 253rd Infantry regiment, 63rd Infantry Division. He went to Europe with Fox Company in November 1944, and served as a S/Sgt. He was wounded in action on April 2, 1945 he received a gun shot wound to the hand. He was listed as Missing in Action until April 17, 1945.

After the war he took part in Air Force ROTC. Upon-completion of Officers Training School in 1948 he married Nannie L. Favor of Titus, Alabama. He married Nannie Lou Holman on December 22, 1948, in Elmore, Alabama. He was commissioned an officer in the US Air Force on December 18, 1948. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major on March 31, 1965. In his last few years in the Air force he was working with the space program. This allowed for him to continue to work with the space program, as an employee of IBM at the Kennedy Space Center,after he retired from the Air Force. He died on May 16, 2007, in Huntsville, Alabama, at the age of 81. Some of the awarded he received were, the Bronze Stare Medal, The American Theater of operations MedalEuropean African Middle Eastern Theater of operations Medal with  two battle stars, the World War Two Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal,  the National Defense Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
